The Australian Government has implemented several significant changes to LANTITE in 2025 as part of the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan. Here's everything you need to know about what's changed.
Key Changes
1. Removal of Test Attempt Limits
The most significant change is the removal of all test attempt restrictions. Candidates can now sit the test as many times as needed to meet the standard. This change was implemented following the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan trial.
Note: Standard test fees still apply for each attempt.
2. Improved Results Feedback
ACER has revised the Literacy and Numeracy statements of results to provide more detailed feedback. Candidates who don't meet the standard now receive specific information about areas needing improvement, helping them better prepare for future attempts.
3. Standardized Test Windows
Four test windows are now offered throughout 2025, providing more consistent scheduling for candidates planning their attempts.
4. Updated Remote Proctoring
The remote proctoring system has been updated with new guidelines as of January 2025. These updates aim to improve the online testing experience for candidates choosing to take the test remotely.
What Remains the Same
- • Test content and difficulty level
- • Required performance standard (top 30% of the adult population)
- • Basic test structure (literacy and numeracy components)
- • Test duration (120 minutes per component)
- • Registration process through ACER
What This Means for Candidates
These changes provide greater flexibility for teacher candidates while maintaining the high standards required for teacher registration. The removal of attempt limits and improved feedback system particularly benefit candidates who may need multiple attempts to achieve the required standard.
The standardized test windows and updated remote proctoring also make the test more accessible, allowing candidates to better plan their preparation and choose their preferred testing method.
