The LANTITE costs $196 for both components or $98 for one component in 2026, GST inclusive, and you pay again for every attempt, so resitting the one test you didn't pass is $98, not $196. ACER refunds the fee, less a $12 charge per component, if you cancel before registration closes; after that it is non-refundable. Below: how the fee works, the refund deadlines, which universities pay it for you, and what you can get for free.
How much is the LANTITE in 2026?
Both components
$196.00
Literacy and numeracy in the same window
GST inclusive
One component
$98.00
Literacy or numeracy on its own, including a resit
GST inclusive
There is no discount for booking both together: two single components cost the same $196. The fee is charged each time you register and attempt a component, so if you sit both and meet the standard in one, the next window costs you $98 for the other. A component you have passed never has to be paid for again.
2026 fees as published on ACER's payment page, which is where you pay, by Visa, Mastercard or debit card, at the time you register.
Refunds and cancellations
You can cancel and get the fee back up to the close of registrations for your test window, minus a $12 administration charge for each component cancelled. Once registrations close, a place has been reserved for you and the fee is non-refundable. Changing your mind, illness and personal circumstances do not qualify, apart from the limited cases where the Australian Consumer Law requires a refund. Cancellations are requested from inside your ACER account, ticking the component(s) you are dropping, and the money goes back to the card you paid with.

Get Started Free →Does your university pay the LANTITE fee?
Usually not. ACER lists only three providers that may cover the fee for eligible students: Griffith University, La Trobe University (Nexus postgraduate program only) and Edith Cowan University (HAT@ECU program). Queensland University of Technology used to, and ACER notes that from 2026 it no longer does. If you are at one of the three, register through the arrangement your faculty tells you about rather than paying yourself; everyone else pays ACER directly at registration.
Still worth asking
Some faculties run hardship or equity funds that can reimburse the fee even where there is no formal arrangement with ACER. Student services is the place to ask, and ask before you register, not after.
Reasonable adjustments are free
Extra time, rest breaks and other adjustments for a disability or medical condition do not change the fee. Apply to ACER for them before you register.
What you don't have to pay for
Free preparation
- ACER's own practice material: a small set, but it is the official format
- Our free LANTITE practice questions, and in the app the video lessons and practice paper 1 cost nothing
- An 8-week study plan so the $196 is paid once, not twice
Avoiding a second fee
- Register early in the window so you get the centre and date you want; a missed sitting is not refunded
- If you only need to resit one component, book only that one: $98, not $196
- Didn't meet the standard? Read what happens after a failed LANTITE before you pay again
